Glee Season 1

June 11, 2010 at 2:09 AM

Yesterday I finally downloaded the finale for seasons 1 of GLEE. I was surprised that even though with constant crashing, and bandwidth throttling, slow download.. using my phone as modem, I still managed to download it. I’m happy.

I’m not going to spoil anything though. Finally spent some time today to watch the last few episodes that I haven’t watched yet.. from the episode with Neil Patrick Harris. I’m sad that Glee is over now.. but it’s coming back in September for season 2, I can’t wait! You know I have never been addicted to a TV show since Charmed. I don’t watch hour-long TV show because they bore me, except maybe a few. Oh and my mom has started to watch it too, and wanted to watch the finale today.. which is a huge shock since she has NEVER watched American TV show except a bit of Charmed, and that she was against Glee at first. She thinks Lea Michelle (who plays Rachel Berry) is an amazing singer.

My friend thinks Glee is like High School Musical. Well if you think about it, it kinda is but different in so many levels. I’m a fan of HSM but Glee is far from HSM. HSM is so typical Disney movie, where it’s all very cliche. Cute jock wants to sing, but afraid he’ll be ridiculed by his team mates, but then his team mates will also join, then includes the pretty girl who’s in love with the jock.. then there’s the rival…sounds a lot like Glee huh?

What’s different about Glee is that it deals with adult theme. The language also is not really appropriate for kids.. like for example, Sue Sylvester calling Mr William Schuester a “manwhore” and “slut”. The rest is typical.. you have different labels in the Glee club.. like the over-achiever annoying Rachel, the badass Puck, the cute jock Finn, the goth/emo weirdo Tina, the black sista Mercedes, the used-to-be-popular pregnant Quinn, the cheerleaders Santana and Brittany, the disabled kid Artie, the other Asian Mike, the other black (forgot his name), and the gay Kurt.

The best character in the series would have to be Sue Sylvester for me. I looooove Jane Lynch. She’s this sarcastic bitch that constantly insults Mr Schue (and his hair and chin) and despise the Glee club. Everything that Sue says never fail to make me laugh… I’ll paste some quotes from Sue that I found online:

Sue Sylvester: [writing in journal] Glee club. Every time I try to destroy that clutch of scab-eating mouth breathers it only comes back stronger like some sexually ambiguous horror movie villain. Here I am, about to turn 30, and I’ve sacrificed everything only to be shanghaied by the bi-curious machinations of a kabal of doughy misshapen teens. Am I missing something, Journal? Is it me? Of course its not me. Its Will Schuester. What is it about him, Journal? Is it the arrogant smirk? Is it the store-bought home perm? You know, Journal, I noticed something yesterday. Of course. Its coming clear to me now. If I cant destroy the club, I will have to destroy the man!

Sue Sylvester: [to Santana and Brittany] Ladies, I misjudged you. You may be the two stupidest teens I’ve ever encountered. And that’s saying something. I once taught a cheerleading seminar to a young Sarah Palin.

Will Schuester: Okay look Sue. If you’re back let’s bury the hatchet.
Sue Sylvester: I won’t be burying any hatchets William unless I happen to get a clear shot to your groin. You humiliated me.
Will Schuester: You did this to yourself Sue. All I did was enjoy watching it happen.
Sue Sylvester: Yeah, well enjoy this William. Now that I’m back and my position is secured I will not stop until you’re fired and your little Glee Club is annihilated into oblivion.
Will Schuester: Bring it.
Sue Sylvester: Oh I will bring it, William. You know what else I’m gonna to bring? I’m gonna bring some Asian cookery to wipe your head with. Cause right now you’ve got enough product in your hair to season a wok.

Here’s an example of how awesome Sue is.. this clip shows some of her hair insults for Mr Schuester:

Sue Sylvester is AWESOME. Actually, Jane Lynch is awesome. I’ve seen a few movies and she’s that sarcastic in them.. like in ‘Role Models‘, ‘Another Cinderella Story‘.. ‘Two & A Half Men‘.. etc.

Love the songs in Glee too. Currently I’m so addicted to “Run Joey Run“… the video is like pure orgasmic because it has Finn, Puck and Jesse. I’m a sucker for guys in white shirt and black leather jacket and black pants. Is it getting hot in here??

(video is flipped to avoid being taken down by youtube)

The craziest episode would have to be The Gaga episode.. all of them with Gaga inspired clothing.. so ridiculous! Haha.. Tina with the bubble dress, and Kurt with I think 10 inch heels? And Rachel with dress filled with stuffed animals..then the boys in KISS makeup.. πŸ˜€

Anyways, the finale almost made me cry. πŸ™ And oh well, no more Jesse and Vocal Adrenaline (their rival team). Jesse is so cute but too bad he’s gay in real life. So yeah, HSM maybe can be called the cleaner version of Glee, lol. Oh and Neil Patrick Harris was AWESOME in one episode πŸ˜€ Too bad Neil is also gay -.- You know, it’d be interesting if Jesse was paired up with Kurt instead of Rachel.. a gay relationship.. πŸ˜€ I wanna see Kurt in a relationship with a guy in seasons 2 even though he has the hot for Finn, lol.

It’s 5 am now so I better sleep.. mom was sleeping on my sofa aka bed, so I’ve been up all night watching stuff and putting up with my cat’s crazyness cuz she was bored so she didn’t shut up or sit still for almost 5 hours.. NONSTOP. Talk about driving me crazy. Now I need sleep.. if not I’d need like a dozen of wrinkle creams later for my under eyes @_@ Wait, I already do…. T___T

Mind Your Language

June 3, 2010 at 11:51 AM

I was supposed to go back to my hometown today.. but, yesterday I went out with my friend until night time, and I didn’t have enough sleep yesterday so my mom said that I look too tired to drive back.. so…….. we’re going back tomorrow morning.

I think I need new curtains. Maybe black curtains so it can block the sun .. I’ve always wanted custom blinds but either mom wouldn’t let me use blinds or it’s expensive.. or maybe it collects dust too much? Like my IKEA’s blind at the kitchen.. yuck.

I am now so fricken loving MIND YOUR LANGUAGE.

I used to see the (pirated) boxΒ  set DVD in the store, and being a fan of British comedy, I’ve always wanted to just randomly buy the DVD even though I’ve never seen the show. The only DVD of TV show that I’ve never seen before and just randomly bought it was ‘The Wayans Bros‘.. and it turned out to be a hilarious show, so it was a good buy. But that has The Wayans bros… I’m already familiar with their crazyness. But what about MIND YOUR LANGUAGE? Is it as good as my fave Fawlty Towers? What if I don’t like it? My money would be a waste.

Turns out, on Sunday, when I was randomly switching channels on TV… suddenly I see the listing for what’s on next and I see “MIND YOUR LANGUAGE“! I was like “fuck yeah”!

It was the 4th or 5th episode. It means I’ve missed the previous episodes and I didn’t even know it has been showing. But anyways, I started to watch it and even though at the beginning I was concentrating on getting to know the characters because I missed the pilot episode, but even at the beginning, it was HILARIOUS.

Omg, this show is so fricken hilarious! I can’t believe I didn’t decide to buy the DVD a lot sooner. After that, I’ve been researching for the show and found out someone uploaded the first season on youtube. Thank God for youtube πŸ˜€ Finally I get to see the pilot episode and understood the characters now and the show is hilarious on each episodes. Each characters are hilarious, and it’s funny to see how foreigners who knows little to nothing about English tries to communicate.. my fave character would be Ali Nadim from Pakistan πŸ˜€ I love how the students take the words literally.. that’s what non-native English speakers learning English would struggle with..for example like figure of speech. I still struggle with Japanese. Oh and of course I love Mr. Brown.

I fell in love with him the first time I saw him.. haha. He’s so cute, with his baby face, his boyish smile.. he was so hot. He’ll make an awesome English teacher. I would never skip a class. I would be like Danielle, the hot French girl in the show who has a crush on Mr Brown and tries to flirt with him .. (she even kissed him in one episode of Mr Brown’s birthday). I’d so be like her if Mr Brown was my teacher πŸ˜€

However when I did a little research, I found out that his last few years of life wasn’t as great as I thought it would be. He was handome, cute-looking, funny.. and with how successful MYL was and other shows or movies he was in, I thought he’d get a lot of job offers, and would live a happy life but no, he ended up to be a minicab driver and at the age of 53 in 1997, they found him dead πŸ™ Cause was alcohol poisoning. Suicide or murder? Still a mystery. He was also abandoned as a baby. πŸ™

So yesterday i’ve been crazy trying to search for the series download.. found some but turns out the DVD release has a few missing episodes.. the only way to get them is to download a TVRIP version, which is also hard to find. Of course, season 4 is not available anywhere as it was never released anywhere. I wonder if someone in the world would have series 4 recorded when it was shown on TV before and upload it on the internet? One can only hope.

I downloaded like 5GB++ of season 1-3 yesterday, and it does contain missing episodes in season 2 and 3 and lack the missing episodes of season 1.. so I’m trying to download them now and managed to get episode 9’s Kill or Cure but low quality TV Rip. I’m now struggling to download episode 12’s How’s Your Father. It’s frustrating. Hate torrent with no seeders and rapidshare’s limited download.

Oh yeah, I’m surprised with the show at first and how they’re still showing it now. I found out they did show in Malaysia back then, but not sure how come I never knew it. So there’s quite a lot of MYL fan in Malaysia. The shows has racism, religious issue, stereotypical foreigners which would be deemed offensive & politically incorrect now.. however it’s not a problem for me… I just consider it as a very entertaining political satire.

An Eye Exam, Shrek 4-D, Moving Balls Toy

May 28, 2010 at 2:26 PM

Last Wednesday, I had an eye exam at the college’s new faculty in the morning. I’ve been having bad allergic reactions since I’ve been in KL since 2006. So i’ve been doing a lot of rubbing on my eye. So I got worried and since the new Faculty of Optometry & Vision Sciences is opened and they offer free full eye exam at the moment, so I said why not, right? I mean it’s free. So I went to set up an appointment.

The eye exam took like an hour because it was a thorough eye exam. So you know the usual stuff – they used the machines to check the eyes, the vision, then the blurriness, check for color blind etc.. it did take like an hour-ish for it to finish. So the verdict? I’m short sighted. Which I already know.. and told him my glasses have been crooked for like ages, so I’d need a new one, but their place to sell it haven’t opened yet so he’ll give me a call when it does. Other than that, nothing wrong, which is quite a surprise to me since I’ve been having a lot of allergies. He did say I have like tiny bumps on the lid or something, which means I do have allergies so better to go to clinic to get it checked. They can only give artificial tear drop but it would be just a temporary relief.

Finished at 12 pm. Then I called my friend and we went to Ikea for lunch and had hotdog. Their hotdog and curry puffs are ‘the awesomeness’. The only cheap alternatives when you’re so damn broke haha.

I was supposed to pick mom up to send to the clinic after lunch hour, but after countless tries phoning her and she didn’t pick up, I decided to watch a movie with Claudia. She wanted to watch Kick-Ass while I want to watch Shrek in 3D. You see, I’ve been a fan of Shrek movies, and since Hollywood now are so crazy with the 3D trend, I thought hey, why not watch Shrek in 3D. Besides, I want to watch it in 3D before I go back to my hometown next week because the cinema at my hometown is sooooooo lame that they don’t have 3D. Kick-Ass movie is no longer showing so it was either Shrek or A Nightmare on Elm Street. Oh I so wanna watch Nightmare on Elm Street because I wanna see how they remake the classic – even though it won’t be the same as original as Freddy isn’t played by Robert Englund (he’s the only best Freddy!) and no hot young Johnny Depp πŸ˜› But Claudia didn’t want to watch scary movie so I had to force her to watch Shrek in 3D πŸ˜› After all the forcing and pleading she gave in hehehehe.

I don’t want to give extensive review on the movie because I have another website for my movie reviews. The movie is good! It’s soooo hilarious. I actually love this better than the 3rd one. On the 3D review, I love watching movies in 3D. Some says 3D sucks because you don’t get like stuff coming towards you and make you go WHOOOAAA, but it’s not all about that. 3D gives you the depth also.. makes the surrounding and characters come to life as if you’re there instead of flat 2D. There are some scenes where you feel the elements go ‘out of the screen’ like smoke, those magic particles.. and like stuff almost coming to you. Overall, 3D Shrek is better than 3D Alice in Wonderland. I’ve also watched Nightmare before Christmas 3D before and it was awesome because you see the snow falls right in front of you.. the verdict? Watch in 3D if it’s ANIMATION MOVIE, but don’t watch 3D if it’s just a normal movie unless you don’t care about the effect, and just want the depth.

I wonder how they’re gonna make the last Harry Potter’s movie in 3D? They better make it good!

My favorite part of Shrek 4 is when Puss in Boots give the sad puppy dog eyes to Donkey 3 times! OMG I couldn’t stop laughing at that! OMG thinking of it now makes me laugh. That’s the funniest part ever because when my Ipoh friend and I watched the first Shrek movie, we couldn’t stop talking about how Puss in Boots did the sad eyes in the first movie.. now they made it longer so it’s even more hilarious.

Go watch Shrek 4! It’s t3h-awesomeness!

Oh yeah, while waiting for Shrek 4, we spent a long time at Daiso and discovered a new toy that is so addictive. I mean – if you can picture a box of the top toys for a 4 year old boy, this would be right at the top of the pile.

γƒ γƒΌγƒ“γƒ³γ‚°γƒœγƒΌγƒ«θ„³γ‚’ζ΄»ζ€§εŒ–οΌ

We spent a long time playing this at Daiso until after the movie, I decided to get this!

This is Claudia (her hand actually) playing with it after I bought it. When we played with it in Daiso, everybody was looking at how crazy we were with a baby rattle looking thing in our hands. So what the hell is this? It’s actually a brain training game!

How do you play this? If you can’t read the Japanese, I’ll roughly translate it for you. Basically it says the aim of the game is to have one color separated at each sides. So you have to start with all the balls mixed up at one side, then shake/roll/swing whatever you like to move one color to the other side. I find it easier to play once you have the toy out of the packaging and I find it easier to roll instead of shaking the thing. For example, you want to have blue colored balls at the right side and orange colored ball at the left side. When it’s done, it looks like this!

Haha I love that girl cartoon! That’s how I look like when I play the toy. It makes you frustrated, it makes you cuss, it makes you happy, it makes you giggle.. basically the toy will fuck with your head. Haha. Love it.

Only in Daiso! Geez, the Japanese and their crazy inventions.. even a simple toy that looks like a baby rattle that cost RM 5 (100 yen, or around USD 1+) can make you addicted. But it’s fun, so what the hell. I actually played with this when I went shopping with mom after that and everybody was looking at me.

Oh I also got the book “Pride & Prejudice & Zombies“.. yay! Finally. I love anything with zombies. I’ve read “I am Scrooged: A Zombie Story for Christmas” before and I loved it! I’m the kind of person who hates reading books unless it’s very interesting.. so zombies? Of course it’s interesting πŸ˜€ Since I have not read the original Pride & Prejudice, so this is the time right? With a little bit of zombies to add the spice.
