A Kitten Story: The Survivor

I’m just taking a break from my stressful projects and just blog for a bit. I’m waiting for ‘Evil Dead II’ to be on TV in less than 10 minutes. I love that movie. Actually I love the first one more but two is not that bad.

A few days ago, I had one of the biggest scares of my life. You see my kittens were all upstairs in my room. That day everything was going fine. I was having a good day and night. Then suddenly my cat who was running out from the kitchen knocked my drink over and spilled all of my lime juice onto my carpet. I was upset but you know what? That was a small distraction or warning for what’s to come. The bigger one.

As I was watching TV, then suddenly I heard a LOUD THUMP and my heart just literally stopped. Right that instant I could guess what that sound was. The sound I fear. The moment I fear would happen yet it did. My kitten FELL from fricken 2nd floor, straight down onto the last step of the stairs down below. Just a BIG LOUD THUD. The ‘thud’ that stopped my heart from a second. I turned around and saw what I’ve been fearing for a week came true. I saw one of the kittens lying on the step not moving.

You see, since my kittens have started walking a few days ago, they would not stop running here and there. They’re hyperactive kittens. And it was my mistake to leave my room’s door slightly ajar so that the mother could go in and out.

The kitten was not moving for a few seconds and then started flailing and moving around like crazy. Having to witnessed a dying kitten on my birthday last month, all the negative thoughts came back back. All I was thinking was that he was dying. That he broke his neck and bones. That poor fragile thing. I panicked like I’ve never panicked before. I didn’t know what to do so I just went to him and picked him up and held him to my chest. I was going to cry. All I could do was to just hold him, rub his head & body and pray. His head was just like dangling? He was quiet and confused – probably in too much pain.

I think after about 15 – 30 minutes or so, he seemed to be looking ok. Head no ‘dangling’. He’s responding to me. And so when I put him down on the floor, he started walking again and later walked normally and drinking his mother’s milk. You have no idea how relieved, and happy I was. Thank God. Hopefully he doesn’t have any injury because it’s been a few days and he seems to be acting normal & playing like his other siblings not showing any strange signs.

Now my other cat is having like smelly puss/smelly discharge from her ear due to hematoma. 🙁

Well gonna continue work while watching Evil Dead II. Toodles.
