Phobia 2 Review

February 4, 2011 at 2:11 AM

I finally downloaded and watched ‘Phobia 2’. I remember when I was in class, someone suggested to me to search for ‘4bia’ on youtube and watch it since I love horror movies. I remember watching the first and second plots but had forgotten to resume watching until last night. I loved the first plot. I thought it was quite creepy. One thing about Thai horror movies is that they can be creepy. None of the modern Hollywood horror crap.  They’re also smart and not just going towards the chop chop slash kind. The only Hollywood horror that’s smart and really chills you to the bone is The Sixth Sense. I haven’t found any that can rival that. It’s all just remakes of classic or asian horror now.

Phobia 2 is a combination of 5 different parts of stories directed by 5 different directors. In 4bia, they’re sorta connected but they have one theme in common – fear with death. In the second one, there’s another common theme – fear of/with (vehicle) accidents. I don’t know if I see any connection with all the stories though.

Fourteen year-old Pey committed a crime, so his mom decides to hide him in a Buddhist monastery to escape punishment. However, something deep down inside is bothering him. Will Pey’s Karma catch up with him?

Upon graduation, a young Japanese couple decides to hitchhike around Thailand. They manage to get a ride on a truck, but suspect something strange in the truck’s trailer. What exactly is in the back of the truck?

‘In the End’
Four boys are filming an upcoming horror movie. As they are shooting their last scene, one of the actresses dies mysteriously. To finish the film, they have to have her complete her scene, DEAD or NOT.

A car dealer makes her living by refurbishing used cars, sometimes with horrific pasts. One night after closing, she discovers her son is missing. Could these cars have memories of their tragic histories?

A young man is in hospital for a motorcycle accident. He is moved into a room with an old man on life support. When strange things start happening in the middle of the night, he starts to wonder. Is he really alone?

Hmm out of all, I think the one that gives me the chill is ‘Salvage’. Why? I’m sure for most people, they would say ‘Backpackers’…but it doesn’t scare me. Maybe because I’m a huge zombie fan, and to see zombies running around does not scare me now. HOWEVER, this part do have a very cute guy that I like. Why I chose Salvage? Because nothing can chill me more than finding out a terrifying story from the past.. in this case, stories about the cars. They refurbish cars that had fatal accidents so nothing is more chilling than seeing those horrific moment ‘replaying’ again.. seeing the deaths again…urgh.

Here’s what I think of all the plots:

Novice: This is a bit slow..quite creepy but it has also a bit of dramatic sadness in it.

Backpackers: Nothing new… more like zombies running around. I love zombies so I like this part. But love the cute guy more. The ending however is quite predictable.

Salvage: As mentioned, it’s my fave part that chilled me.

Ward: This is the ‘hardcore’ part out of all. If you watched this in the cinema, I’m sure this is the part that gives the BOOM BOOM scare. By that I mean audio scare. While the rest gives you a slow chilling, or thrilling action, this makes you jump in your seat when it goes BOOM.

In The End: The last part. I love how the guys from the first 4bia came back for this.. and they’re funny! They gave a comedic feeling for the first movie, and they did too in this part. It’s quite creepy but this has got to be my most favorite part. The guys had similar plot at the end like in 4bia, and you thought you caught the so-called predictable ending but haha, I tell you this has the best twist out of all. I totally didn’t expect the outcome.

However, the movie I downloaded had the worst subtitle ever. Whoever created that subtitle needs to go back to English school. It’s so shitty it pissed me off. It’s hard because you’re relying on the sub for some part of the movie, and it has typos all over.

I googled the cute guy in ‘Backpackers’ part (in the blue shirt in picture above) and found out his name is ‘Charlie Trairat’. Ahh he’s sooo cute. Totally rape-able.

Too bad I’m not into Thai actors as I was with JPOP boys. Thailand has lots of cute and hot guys.

I give the movie 3/5. It’s a chilling movie if you watch it alone at night but it doesn’t give you the ultimate scare. Anyways, HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR to my fellow Chinese friends. I’m gonna go watch something now. Unfortunately this blog has a dumbass jerk as a follower now who leaves idiotic comments once in a while. I feel the love, brother.
