Yesterday I went to ANIMATION SEMINAR at UiTM (Universiti Teknologi Mara/Mara Technology University) in Shah Alam. If I didn’t go I had to attend class anyway so might as well go and gain extra knowledge. So I woke up early then got ready and rushed to school at 8.15 am and reached there at 8.30 am. The thing is.. Mr Eddie said we were supposed to meet up before 8.30 am and he was nowhere to be seen until almost 9 am lol. I guess he got stuck in traffic jam. So it was just me, Esther and Mr Eddie with Mr Eugene joining us in Klang. So we took the NKVE to Bukit Raja toll which seems endless lol. We saw Mr Eugene’s car and followed him to UiTM which is like 5 mins away. Our journey there took 30 minutes.UiTM campus is so fucking huge, it’s like a city or town of its own. Kind of isolated with lots of old buildings and hella confusing narrow zigzag roads. We got lost at first but then managed to find the building somehow.

So from the car park we walked up to the room and registered ourselves and shit. Luckily the talk started half an hour late.. at the exact time we arrived.

WACOM TABLET

animationseminar03.JPG

animationseminar04.JPG

The first talk was about Wacom tablet. I’ve been wanting a wacom tablet for sooooo long and I”m glad they had this talk. It was very useful to know. I want to get Intuos which is around RM400-700 or so.. or was it RM1000+ for bigger one? God. So expensive. But if i’m serious about being in animation or film industry, I’m gonna need this. Besides, it’s good for artist do to do digital drawing.

GOOGLE SKETCHUP 6

Next was Google’s SketchUp demo. I was actually very surprised they were doing a demo on this program. It’s actually a program where you can sketch up buildings and stuff with ease. I saw this program on Google last week and decided to download it but was too confusing so again, I’m so glad they did a demo of this! It looked easy the way he designed his demo house lol.

animationseminar09.JPG

They displayed the Wacom tablets outside for people to test and stuff. Want one, damnit.

Then it was breakfast time provided by them.

animationseminar12.JPG

Here’s my breakfast. Fried rice was ok. Didn’t like the rice tho.. not soft enough for me. They loved it tho. The cupcakes were ok. They didn’t taste chocolatey, but soft enough for my liking. It was ok. The milk tea was good, LOL.

ZBRUSH

animationseminar13.JPG

animationseminar14.JPG

This program is fun! Its called ZBRush by Pixelogic or something. It’s a program where you can sculpt things into a shape like human or monsters or whatever prior to filming or designing. It’s cool and it looks fun.

AUTODESK 3Ds MAX DESIGN

animationseminar15.JPG

If you’re into 3D design, you would already know or have heard of 3Ds Max. There are two types. 3Ds Max for 3D designers like gamers and stuff, and the other one is 3Ds Design, for architectural use for architects or interior designers. This was supposed to be interesting but unfortunately, the two ladies that were presenting was so fucking boring. One was ok, but the person doing the demo was so blah. She barely talked an explained, then her voice is so soft..most of the time it’s quiet so it makes me sleepy and plus she didn’t speak English properly.. AND heavy chinese accent (the type I can’t stand). They even said ‘lightning’ instead of ‘lighting’ so we were giggling at the back lol.

However all the pics that she showed was extremely cool. The realistic look of buildings and scenery just wow :D Too complicated for me to use but still wow :D Then me and Esther were talking about building our room in shopping malls etc You know, if me, I’d design like a combination of huge mall and condo.. or condo hotel and luxurious penthouse… etc etc

QUEST3D

animationseminar16.JPG

animationseminar17.JPG

animationseminar18.JPG

animationseminar19.JPG

3DQuest is a program to create virtual reality with real-time rendering. They showed some demos and omg it was so cool and all the textures and design was amazing.

animationseminar20.JPG

animationseminar21.JPG

Above are demo of a campus walkthrough for one of the universities in China if I’m not mistaken. The design was really nice and awesome.

animationseminar22.JPG

animationseminar23.JPG

animationseminar24.JPG

Above are the a demo of a game created using 3DQuest. You play an ant trying to push a ball in the red spots and avoid being stepped on by that human girl. This is amusing because the guy is quite amusing when he was playing this lol.

animationseminar25.JPG

If you master this, and you’re a good designer/illustrator, you can do amazing walkthrough design. It looks like a good program :D Might play with it someday. After that the seminar is over but they had lucky draw. You know the woman was looking into the bowl and actually picking names? Probably from a certain company or college?? Fucking biased. That’s so unfair. I was really pissed. After that we just left and didn’t have the lunch they provided but instead we went out. Food was ok there but yeah, we had good conversation there.

On the way back, while we were talking and stuff in the car I realized we were passing Kelana Jaya LRT using the Damansara-Puchong Highway. There was a traffic jam so I got paranoid and told Mr Eddie to slow down and said this is accident hotspot (refer to my previous post about the accident that killed 4 Nigerians)…they were making fun of me, sorta lol then we started talking about the accident and the victims…just as we were about to past the accident spot, I got the shivers and guess what? There was another ACCIDENT. Right near the spot where the Nigerians were killed. But luckily the accident wasn’t that bad. Just wreck front and bumper. But it was freaky… how there was an accident at the spot where that nightmarish accident happened just last week. I saw the wrecked divider and stuff..

Nothing much happened after that, I just went straight back home. GOD there, I’m done! Next blog is about Segi College’s Open Day!
